ST LEUCIA
ART INSTALLATION
An installation around the whole island of St Lucia. Using significant numbers from British culture; such as 007, and personal numbers; such as ex-girlfriends telephone numbers, which he wished to leave on the island. The pole installation was virally placed on beaches, roadsides and in the depths of the jungle. This sustainable installation was created out of wood with shrub bases, which had the capacity to “reroot” themselves and therefore become part of the island itself over time.
The installation was a conversation and response to the island. It created a rich dialogue with the inhabitants who attached their own meaning to the symbols. It is a key example of how Anderson speaks to place and its community through his art.
